Chef David Leathers had hoped to have his new restaurant, Forklift, ready for customers by Gumtree weekend. That mid-May opening date is not going to happen, but the restaurant is not too far behind schedule. Daily Journal food editor Ginna Parsons (13:18) joins Derek and Brad to provide an update on the restaurant that also hopes to revitalize a portion of West Jackson Street that had fallen into disrepair.
Also on today’s show, religion reporter Riley Manning (19:38) provides an update on Tupelo’s Christ the King Lutheran Church, one of Tupelo’s two Lutheran churches, which has closed its doors after a nearly two-year absence of a head pastor. Plus, Brad (29:40) gives the craziest crime reports from last week.
