On today’s Halloween weekend edition, Scott Morris (16:16) joins Emma Kent and Derek Russell to review the latest Madea movie – “Tyler Perry’s Boo! 2 A Madea Halloween.”
It had moments that were painful to watch, Scott said, with lazy dialogue and a bad plot, but it also had lots of laughs. Ultimately, Scott gave it a “B+” for laughs and an “F” for substance, splitting the difference for an overall “C” grade.
Meanwhile, lifestyle section editor Leslie Criss (10:36) talks about this week’s food section. That includes a slow-cooker recipe for chicken chili with barley. This week’s Cook of the Week is Derma resident Jan Scarbrough, who likes fancy food but often sicks to the old-fashioned Southern fare her husband enjoys. Her recipes include banana bread, fried pie and a “different chicken” featuring mustard and crushed onions.
Derek (28:27) talks about this weekend’s entertainment scene. That includes Jason Aldean performing at BancorpSouth Arena, North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s “Citizen Soldier” show, Haunted Theatre, and a Halloween night showing of “Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Emma and Derek also talk about Netflix’s “Mindhunter.”
