Verna Reaves of New Albany learned to cook not from her mother, but from her older sister. The Daily Journal’s Cook of the Week particularly enjoys making sweets. On this episode, food editor Ginna Parsons talks about Reaves (2:03), who also runs the Westside Bar-B-Que restaurant on Highway 30. Ginna also discusses her column about a fish dish that she enjoyed a lot more than her husband did.
Guest co-host M. Scott Morris offers his review of the latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie (12:54). While critics haven’t been fond of it, Scott said he enjoyed the action and the comedy, saying it was a bit of a return to form for the Johnny Depp-driven franchise. He also said to be on the lookout for a notable cameo.
Also, Brad and Scott look at what’s happening on the local entertainment scene (19:05), including the annual Elvis Festival in Tupelo. The music fired up Thursday night with the new Music at the Mill concert, and more artists are set to perform Friday and Saturday night.
